Andre is a tertiary qualified Adult educator and has worked in the Technical and Further Education sector (TAFE) for 17 years. Andre teaches environmental and horticultural subjects at Douglas Campus TAFE. He has published a wide range of articles on sustainable farming, organic agriculture, environmental management and horticulture and has presented papers at a number of international conferences.

Andre has over 34 years of experience in all areas of organic agriculture from growing, pest control, weed management, marketing, post harvest, transport, grower organisations, developing new crops and education in Australia and in many other countries. He is the manager of an organic tropical fruit orchard in Daintree, Queensland. Andre was part of a group of people who pioneered the introduction and cultivation of tropical exotic fruits and many other tropical plants in Australia.

In his free time, Andre actively plays a role in organisations and committees that work to improve the organic industry in Australia. He is chair of the Organic Federation of Australia, the industry peak body for the Australian Organic Industry, the Vice President of the Australian Lychee Growers Association (ALGA) which is the industry peak body, the Vice President of the United Lychee Marketing Association, the Vice President of the Bamboo Society of Australia, and Board Member of the Far North Queensland Lychee Growers Association.
