John Priestley is an inspiration for everybody in the organic industry.
A third generation organic farmer. With innate practical skills and
intuition and biodynamic Farming methods, he single-handedly maintains
a 6,000-tree orchard without the expensive use of artificial
pesticides, herbicides and insecticides. His biodynamic citrus is of
such a quality, consistency and flavour that his bulk bins have been
supplying the supermarkets for the last 6 years… His love of the land,
passion for agriculture and irrepressibly inquisitive mind led him to
referencing botanical records of 1924 of his riverside flora to use as
a yardstick for his own planting methods. Ingenious methods of managing
biodiversity and wildlife on his Hunter Valley farm is the essence of
J. & D. Citrus, which produces arguably the best oranges and
mandarins in Australia. His knowledge and expertise in cattle is well
