Scott Kinnear studied Agricultural Science at Melbourne University
majoring in Biochemistry. Fifteen years ago, he started “Organic
Wholefoods” in Melbourne specialising in retailing organic foods. This
business now operates from three locations with 25 staff and is in the
process of establishing an organic farm in central Victoria.
For most of the 90’s, Scott was involved in the Organic Retailers and
Growers Association, and for three years from early 1998 until April of
2001, he was the founding Chairperson of the organic industry peak body
“The Organic Federation of Australia”.
Scott has served a term on the Committee overseeing research into
Organic at the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation
and a term on the Community Consultative Committee of our agricultural
and veterinary chemical regulator.
In February of 2002, he took on the role of spokesperson for the
Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA), Australia’s largest national
organic certification organization, dealing with the issue of Genetic
Engineering and representing Consumer and Retailer interests.
